The Sunshine Blogger Award 2016

Thank you idealizeblog for nominating me for this award! The second one in about a week, you’re so kind 😀

The rules:

Just answer the questions and nominate other bloggers to whom you give your own questions to be answered in their turn. It’s that simple.

Questions and Answers:

  1. If you were to live another person’s life, whose would it be and why?

Ernest Hemingway. He was an amazing novelist, short story writer and journalist and I just want to know what it’s like in his head and knowing what inspires him and having all his great ideas as my ideas and what his writing process is. It would just be so cool and very interesting. There are so many writing apps inspired by him and I want to know what it’s like being the person behind all of that mastery.

  1. Favourite film of any genre and why?

I don’t really have a favourite film as such, there are so many but if I had to narrow it down to one it would be Brother Bear – it’s a Disney film and I basically know all the words and all the songs, I’ve seen it so many times and if you watch it with me you’ll definitely get annoyed and walk out the room because I will be saying the words along with them and singing along to the songs. And I just adore the storyline about a boy becoming a man and about brotherly love and the characters are just so real and Koda the bear cub is the most adorable animated character ever ok.

  1. Musician or lyricist? Which would you prefer?

Lyricist. It’s like poetry but with a tune. Also, I like being out of the limelight rather than in it. Fame isn’t that important to me.

  1. What super power would you choose to have?

Shapeshifting – literally, you could turn into anything, you could mess with people so much like what if you turned into Emma Watson randomly at a family dinner, or a dragon and just fly away from all your problems and burn down a house in the meantime, or if you were at a party you could turn into the owner’s dog so you didn’t have to socialise or you could turn into a hotter version of yourself, or you could turn into one of your family members if they annoyed you and copy everything they say or do.

  1. What songs and/or which singers are in your playlist?

I have too many playlists and singers to name. I have playlists for different moods and situations. Like salsa music, study music (classical and piano), sassy and confident pop songs, coffee break chill/relaxing songs, rock music when I want to ignore the world, old school music with songs like Hungry Like the Wolf, Eye of the Tiger and Mr Blue Sky. I’m really not fussed. My music taste is really diverse, from Katy Perry all the way to Roberto Cacciapaglia, The Goo Goo Dolls and Blink 182.

  1. What do you think is the greatest weakness of mankind?

Anger. It’s dangerous and cruel, and if it ingrains itself in your personal values, the world and everything around you is in trouble.

  1. In a word, describe my blog and say why.

Colourful, because you are such a lovely and happy person it seems and your blog reflects that, especially with the fonts and colours you use in your posts!

  1. Can you please critique any or one of my posts and tell me how I might be able to improve if I do ever feel like writing one like it sometime soon?

Keep doing you. Your posts are great.

  1. If I had amnesia, how would you make me remember you? Assume that we have known each other for as long as necessary.

I’d just remind you that you nicknamed me softest ❤ And you’re in the same year as uni as me!

  1. If everything starts with a lie, what yours?

More or less everything is absolutely fine. My motto in life. It’s not really a lie, it’s quite true actually, but I hardly ever lie because I don’t have the need to.

My questions to you:

  1. What do you fear the most?
  2. What was the last dream you remember about?
  3. What is your motto in life?
  4. What cheers you up?
  5. If you could be any age for a week, how old would you be and why?
  6. If you had a brainwashing machine, who would you use it on and why?
  7. If you could transform into a celebrity for however long you want, who would it be and why?
  8. Who are the people you would invite to a dinner party and why? Can be dead or alive.
  9. Describe an achievement you are most proud of.
  10. Do you believe in ghosts? If yo do, describe what you saw. If not, why not?

7 Facts About Me:

  1. I’m scared of the dark because I’ve probably watched too many horror movies. Jump scares are not fun, but strangely, The Walking Dead is my favourite tv show so figure that one out :’)
  2. I hate mushrooms and kidney beans, or any beans for that matter. Baked beans = disgusting.
  3. Autumn is my favourite season for many reasons.
  4. I have a tabby cat called Alfie and two guinea pigs called William and Benjamin.
  5. Meerkats are my favourite farm/zoo animal because they’re just so small and cute but I love big cats mostly in the wild and at some point in the future I am going to volunteer with Big Cats in South Africa, it’s on my bucket list. I can’t stand when beautiful wild animals are caged in captivity, but I get that in most cases they’re doing it to raise numbers. I’m all for animal rights but sometimes putting them in zoos is the only way to save them from poachers out in the wild. Omg don’t get me started.
  6. I have a brother (16) and a sister (19), both younger than me.
  7. My favourite book is probably The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern because it’s just so dreamy and magical ❤

  • Attach the award to the post.
  • Give a brief story on how your blog started.
  • Give a piece of advice or two to new bloggers.

How my blog got started:

So, some of you may not know that I started off as British Blogger Abroad i.e. a travel blog as I had planned to go to Madrid for 3 months to be an Au Pair for a Spanish family. And i did end up going to Madrid for about a week and it was a nightmare. So I came back to England and I had this “travel” blog all set up with about 5 blogpsts about travel with tips and tricks about how to become an Au Pair, that kind of thing. So then I enrolled in all the courses in Blogging University which basically saved my life because I had no purpose to my blog after I came back to England. And I couldn’t be more grateful to all my followers who have supported me and liked and commented, you people are the best ❤

Advice for new bloggers:

  • Have a purpose to your blog because people won’t stick around if your blog posts are wishy-washy and all over the place  – but write about what makes you happy, and what you know about. Be consistent.
  • Make your theme accessible – make sure it can be read on a computer, tablet and phone – you want people to read your blog on the bus whilst on their phone? Done. Or at the pool on their tablet because they can’t access a laptop? Done.

Here are my answers to Reckless Boundaries‘ questions:

  1. What is your ideal vacation? I’d love to go to Rome because of its history and beautiful architecture. I love sight-seeing and exploring new cities especially when we find cute and unique coffee shops. Also, who could resist pizza and pasta every day? And since I absolutely love photography, it would be an amazing chance to take hundreds of photos! Definitely a city girl.
  2. Are you a morning person or a night person? I’m definitely a night owl. I can stay up all night if I wanted to, just reading or blogging. But I can also get up in the early mornings if I absolutely needed to like when I have to get up to go to uni. Usually, in the holidays, I sleep in till about 12.
  3. What is your favorite leisure activity? I love watching Netflix because it’s pretty much the only other things apart from blogging and eating and dancing (Jive) on Tuesdays, that I do. Until I get a job that is.
  4. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would that be? I’ve recently travelled to Madrid, so I’d like to live there in a small apartment with a few friends.
  5. What are three things on your bucket list? I want to see the tower of Pisa, relax on a beach in the Bahamas, and learn to dive in either Bali or the Great Barrier Reef in Australia.
  6. Do you prefer dogs or cats? CATS FOR THE WIN since I have one and all. But I love dogs too. But fur, fur on everything.
  7. What is one of  your favorite childhood memories? Snow days! When it snowed and we didn’t have to go to school. I remember waking up and it was still dark out and the pavement and roundabout were completely covered in snow without marks since everyone in the street was still asleep. I woke everyone up. And the whole day we spent snowball fighting and making mini snowmen.
  8. When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up? Well, when I was a kid I thought I could literally be anything and I wanted to be a rabbit.
  9. What is your favorite home-cooked meal? Spaghetti Carbonara, my mum makes the cheeeeesiest cream sauce ever.
  10. What is your favorite holiday? I’m gonna go ahead and assume this means holidays like Christmas and stuff. Because if it does then I would definitely say Christmas, because everyone is just happier and more joyful.
  11. What is something you know now that you wish you had learned sooner? I’ve actually written a post on the 20 things I have learned in 20 years! Including the fact that it’s ok to not know what you want to do with your life, you can’t please everyone, to be kind and to never stop learning.
