Toy Snatcher

cruel world

“The world is a toy snatcher.
A toy brings happiness
A toy snatcher revokes us of that,
Our innocence
And it replaces it with sadness.

How cruel is it,
The world
Snatching what you love
From your grip?
Maybe it wasn’t yours to keep
Or love, after all
It’s only temporary pain, though.

Tell me,
Do good things come to those
Who wait?
After the pain, and the loss
We accept it as fact
That the thing we cherished
The most
Is now gone.

We accept it
Because we believe we deserved it
Or because
We believe that something better will come, or not.
But we can hope.
And hope substitutes happiness
Doesn’t it?”
